My first ever "Tackle It Tuesday"

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

I've been meaning to do this for months, but never got round to it. My tackle this week was huge. I actually started tackling it back in July. It's finally done! With a couple of minor exceptions (trip to the tip and charity bin).

Here are some pictures I took at the start of the last day:
Oh goodness, how horrible is that? You can only imagine what it looked like 3 months ago! Anyway, after a lot of hard work this past week, this is now what our garage looks like:

Much better wouldn't you say? Our poor boat will now last much longer, and once the rubbish at the end of the second picture goes, and the exess boxes go into storage, we'll actually be able to get the car in. Won't that be exciting? Actually using the garage for it's purpose! Just in time to move!

You've never thought of installing those floor to ceiling shelving do-dahs so popular on home reno shows? They look like a really efficient way to store all that stuff that seems to accumulate. I can't speak from experience though, we never had shelves either, just a big padlock so the kids couldn't get in there and get lost in the mess.

Oh dear River, I probably shouldn't admit this, but unseen in the photo is a cupboard, floor to celing, filled with camping and xmas stuff. and another cupboard filled with Hubby's tools.

Our problem was I ended up with all my mother's photos and knick knacks and my grandparents lifetime of STUFF and hadn't gone through it, despite it arriving 4 years ago. But it's done now. I have about 30 boxes to go into storage, 10 are boxes of photos belonging to my grandparents or mother. 10 are boxes of books we don't have bookshelf space for, and 10 are assorted craft/sewing/tool bits that won't be needed until the new house. Plus a few bits of furniture.

Wow! That is quite a difference! I didn't even realize there was a boat in the first pictures!
Best of luck getting the rest of it done!

Karen the boat wasn't in the first picture, it's been permanently parked in our front yard for 12 months. Now it'll have *some* weather protection!

I'm so glad it's done. The charity collection came today, and now my car is a bit emptier, I'll be able to take the rubbish to the tip this week, and then I'll have somewhere to put all my packed boxes and bags over the next couple of weeks.
